The Farm

Basata’s farm functions as a source of pleasure and entertainment (kids love the animals) and as a vital step in the recycling process. All of the organic waste (food scraps) are fed to the animals (there is A LOT of food waste in hotels).

Each animal (we have pigeons, goats, donkeys, cats and sheep) is responsible for eating a certain kind of organic left-over food.  The goats eat the macaroni, the camel eats the rice, the ducks eat the fish – they, in turn, produce a wonderful fertilizer, which is then used in the greenhouse.  Any waste that cannot be used as fertilizer goes into the mud and straw bricks.
