Important announcement

After the revolution, people have been worried about Cairo/Taba road to Basata.
Rumours about criminal acts on this road keep spreading that it's dangerous to travel all the way.
We would like to announce that the way to Basata/Sinai in general is not dangerous and since the revolution nothing happened. However, we just recommend to drive that road by day light. All Basata members take that road frequently. The media just gives a wrong picture about what is actually going on. Anything you read on the news is mainly a personal problem between the inhabitants of the area and has no intention or whatsoever to harm anyone else.

Happy New Year to everyone!

The Basata community celebrated New Year's Eve peacefully under the stars. We kicked off the year with a big tasty turkey and a selection of nice food. Maria fascinated us with a collection of different delicious cakes. At 00:00 we burned down the year 2011 and had 2012 written on the mountain. We hope this year to be a good one for all of us.

Abdu (our former cook) and Abu Ahmad (our former night guard) were not just two familiar faces that passed us by.
They were part of our Basata family who left a mark on our guests and ourselves. They sadly passed away in August 2011.
May they both rest in peace.

 Congratulations Basata Class of 2011!!

Fourteen years after the first class was held, four shining stars graduated with an American diploma and SAT scores that will allow them entrance into the college of their choosing.

On June 17, 2011, amid friends and family, Fadaya Sabah, Roxana Antonia Reichle,Sohaila Mohamed Sherif El-Ghamrawy and Sarah El-Kabany
participated in the end of school year ceremonies with the third, fifth and sixth grade classes.

However, this end of year was special, these four accepted their high school diplomas. Amid tears and laughter the girls celebrated their time together and look forward to a future wide with promise .

We expect great things from these girls, the first graduates of the Basata school.
