There have been many rousing games of beach volleyball in front of the main living area in Basata. Inevitably at some point during your stay you will either be invited to play or will initiate the game yourself.
You can do a snorkel excursion to a nearby reef.
A Bedouin guide will bring you there with our speed boat to explore a small untouched coral reef. Half of the trip fees go to Hemaya project against illegal fishing in the Gulf of Aqaba.
Chess, Checkers, Backgammon, Scrabble...
We also have a number of games available such as chess, checkers, backgammon and the wildly popular Scrabble.
At night gather with friends around a campfire on the beach. We provide bamboo sticks and special trays to keep the sand clean.
The two mountains that enclose Basata offer easy and fun hikes that reward those who reach the top with a splendid panoramic view of mountains, coastline and coral reef. One can pack a picnic lunch and eat while gazing across the Gulf at the Saudi Arabian mountains. For the morning person, watching the sunrise from the top of the mountain is a beautiful and peaceful experience. For night owls, the moonrise is equally as stunning. Make sure to take water with you. In addition, the mountains across the road from Basata offer a pleasant change in scenery and an easy walk into the surrounding dessert.
Our Bedouin living room houses a small collection of books that have been donated over the years by our guests. We have books in many languages (predominantly English, Arabic and German) that range from trashy romance novels to Booker Prize winners.
